✪ Tales of the Known World ✪
✪ Synopsis ✪
The Golden Age ended in war, and the high civilizations of the era splintered. Knowledge was lost, memory faded, and history spiraled into darkness. Only the elves with their universities even remember the prophetic merfolk's ancient foretellings and the legendary elf Kingard who fulfilled them. Three hundred years after the dusk of the Golden Age, the last prophesy ever shared by the merfolk lingers shadowy and unfulfilled, whispering of the city A'lara, forged by the lives of six, lying in wait in a distant glade for the advent of the dragon mage.

When Larin finds herself auctioned as a youthful slave in a foreign wasteland, she seeks to escape her bondage once and for all; little Darek looks on in terror while mages murder his family, and as he flees his burning village for his life, yet one more piece falls into place. Answers only uncover more questions for those who find themselves on a journey long foretold, questing for a city that may never even have existed. But dark forces biding their time for the past three centuries are now in motion, poised to strike the travelers down--are they doomed, mere slaves to their own destiny, or can fate be crafted into a future yet unforeseen?

The dragon mage shall bring them all...
✪ Purpose ✪
This journal houses the chapters of my Tales of the Known World series of novels as I work to get them completed and published. It is freely available to anyone who wishes to read or peruse, but my true intentions are to invite betas into the fishtank, and to do a bit of self-advertising so there'll be a bigger market for when the books finally makes it into print. Hopefully, it will travel by world-of-mouth, and be popular before it even hits bookstores! After all, if Eragon and Twilight can do it, why can't I?

Book one is entitled Awakening and is completed. It has been revised by me many times over the past decade, and has been through a few betas. To date, it has been submitted to two publishers, with more on the way. Publishing updates will be made as I learn of them.

Book two is called Broken and is a rough draft currently under revision. As chapters are revised, they will be posted to the site; please beta them if you are so inclined!

Books three and four are incomplete and untitled thusfar; book three is about a quarter drafted with the rest plotted out, and book four is currently nothing but an outline scribbled into a text file.

So please, I invite you to come on in and read a little, if it sounds interesting, and if you like what you see, spread the word if you can! ♥ Comments are welcome and criticisms are equally desirable, but no one is under any obligation to leave messages, and if anyone feels the need to red-pen my work to high heaven, please do. Leave any edits as a comment, or email them to me at aenigmadarai[at]gmail[dot]com if that's easier for you.

Thanks to everybody!
✪ Acknowledgments ✪
Lindsay "Cakes" Black deserves several big thank-yous for all her help during the brainstorming and drafting process. She took part in so much of the initial work, and she cared when no one else did. Nothing would have have come of these ideas if not for you, Cakes.

Stefanie Badger was my first beta for Awakening and it is thanks to her that I ever got myself out of eternal revision status. Due to her helpful red-pen, good input on plot clarity and presentation, and of course, her boundless enthusiasm and encouragement, I could prepare my novel for publishing submission. Thanks to you, Stef, I've gained the optimism and motivation to advertise and see my book in print.

Stephanie Scudder has been a fellow author and writing-enthusiast for years, and she has been a rare treasure in her maintained interest and encouragement. From sessions of world-building and development discussion to several inquiries as to the progress of the novel in the publishing world, Steph urged me forward and even helped craft a powerful synopsis of my life's work. Thank you so much, Steph. I'd be in the dark without your star.
